 Physical Therapy

Did you know that you have a CHOICE where to receive your PHYSICAL THERAPY care? In most cases you do NOT need a doctor’s prescription to begin physical therapy. PCP’s and specialists may recommend on where you seek physical therapy but you’re allowed to make the final decision on where you want to receive your physical therapy. It is your right to choose what provider to see even if your physician suggests a particular provider or clinic. The state of Pennsylvania offers Direct Access which allows most patients to come directly to a Physical Therapist without a physician’s referral. For additional questions, call us at 724-382-5626. Examples of insurances that allow Direct Access to a Physical Therapist:

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield – Highmark
  • Most other Blues
  • Aetna/Cigna
  • UPMC
  • Health America/Health Assurance/Advantra
  • United Health Care
  • United Mine Workers

Legacy Medical Centers’ integrated model of patient care has now expanded to deliver even more comprehensive service to its patients.  Physical Therapy will join the fields of Chiropractic and Pain Management to offer an unrivaled patient experience where these disciplines work together to achieve maximum benefit for each person that walks in the door.  No other clinic in the area provides this unified approach to the treatment of orthopedic and neurological disorders.

At Legacy Medical Centers you can expect your Physical Therapy care to begin with a thorough Evaluation performed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) who has been trained to identify your impairments and will construct an effective treatment plan that will address YOUR goals.  Your subsequent visits will consist of one-on-one treatment sessions where your DPT will lead you through appropriate exercises and/or perform safe, controlled manual therapy techniques.  You can also expect your Physical Therapist to collaborate with Chiropractic and Pain Management colleagues when applicable in order to assist in formulating diagnostic and treatment approaches.
