Dr. J. Matt Burnett, D.C.

Dr. Burnett has been in practice for 15 years, starting his career at Wheeling Jesuit University, where he received a bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine, graduating summa cum laude. Following, he attended National University in Chicago where he earned an additional degree in Biology as well as his Doctorate of Chiropractic.  Since then, Dr. Burnett has had a passion to continue his professional growth to learn and implement the best cutting edge care around to best serve all patients. With this vision, Legacy Medical Centers as developed to be a special place where patients are provided the best possible care in an integrated and collaborative patient-focused setting.

Dr. Burnett treats a wide range of patients, but has an overall special niche in the athletic world treating local as well as professional athletes. His experience started as an athlete himself at Wheeling Jesuit University, where he was a four year varsity letter winner and NCAA Academic All-American with the Men’s soccer team. Dr. Burnett continued his soccer career as the assistant men’s and women’s soccer coach at Illinois Tech in Chicago while earning his doctorate degree. Upon graduation, Dr. Burnett stayed on with Illinois Tech as their Strength and Conditioning Coach until the 2010 season. After moving to Pittsburgh in 2004, Dr. Burnett quickly got involved in the soccer community. He started his local coaching career as the assistant coach for the girls Norwin varsity soccer team, following thereafter with the Peters Township High School girls varsity soccer team from 2010-2013.  He was fortunate to be part of WPIAL history in 2010, 2011, and 2012, where the team captured three consecutive PIAA state championships for the first time in WPIAL history. In addition to his successful coaching career, Dr. Burnett has earned the great privilege of working with over a hundred NFL athletes from 9 different teams. He continues to see athletes from MLB, NHL, LPGA, PGA, and professional boxers. All of this experience, in turn, has had a huge impact on Dr. Burnett, but most of all, expanding his array of knowledge of how best help patients.

With practices in both Peters Township and North Huntingdon, Dr. Burnett currently resides locally, with his wife Tina, and daughters Bria and Keely.  On his time off he enjoys trips to Seven Springs, the beach, and Disney World.  Dr. Burnett is proud to be part of the special place Legacy Medical Centers has become, always striving to better serve the needs of the Pittsburgh community.


Dr. Alan Casciola, DO

Dr. Casciola is an Internal Medicine specialist. As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Casciola’s focus is on a holistic medical approach to healing a person and not just treating a disease. He utilizes a treatment style that focuses on lifestyle modification and nutrition optimization first and foremost. He enjoys helping athletes and non-athletes achieve their goals through nutrition and overall lifestyle adjustments. Dr. Rob Trager, D.C., FST

Rob obtained his Bachelor of Science degree at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He was a research assistant at Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital, where he studied skin cancer. He later worked as a microscopist at Cellay Inc., and One Cell Systems, and researched gut flora at the Antimicrobial Discovery Center in Boston.

Dr. Carly Cunningham, D.C.

Dr. Joel J. Antonucci, D.P.T.

Dr. Joel J. Antonucci, D.P.T. joined Legacy Medical Centers in July of 2016 to add the discipline of Physical Therapy to the already integrated approach of Pain Management and Chiropractic. Dr. Antonucci is excited to offer existing Legacy Medical Center patients and new patients alike post-operative, rehabilitation and orthopedic/sport medicine Physical Therapy care in a one-on-one, personalized setting.


Dr. Shelby L. Ziegler, D.P.T.

Dr. Shelby L. Ziegler DPT attended Slippery Rock University for her undergraduate education where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Shelby completed her doctoral studies at Slippery Rock University School of Physical Therapy, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. As a Neuroscience Graduate Assistant, Dr. Shelby became increasingly interested in concussion management and neuromuscular rehabilitation.


Dr. Brian Meenan

Dr. Brian attended Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA where he studied health and exercise science with a concentration in pre-physical therapy while playing lacrosse there. Following Messiah College, he attended New York Chiropractic College in upstate NY, where he also coached middle school lacrosse.


Dr. Angela Gallik, D.C.

Dr. Angela Gallik’s interest in Chiropractic began after the first time she saw a chiropractor. Starting at the age of five, she was a competitive gymnast and with that, had many injuries and a lot of body pain. Both of those started to decrease once she began seeing a chiropractor. Around the age of 13 she began having low back problems and the solution she heard from many people was simply to quit gymnastics. Since quitting was not an option for her, she decided to try something she was unfamiliar with that ended up becoming a life changer – chiropractic.


Dr. Shayna Birchfield, D.C

Dr. Shayna attended Morehead State University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science in May 2013. During her time at MSU, she worked as a physical activity instructor for a local elementary school, personal trainer, and was also a member of the all-girl cheerleading team. She began her postgraduate studies in Health and Wellness Promotion at MSU, where she worked as a Graduate Assistant for the Physical Education department. It was during this time that she became interested in the chiropractic profession and decided she wanted to focus her learning on a more holistic approach to health.


Dr. Justin Huinker, D.C.

Dr. Justin attended the University of Wisconsin La Crosse in La Crosse, WI where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science. While studying he played football at UWL and had multiple internships with chiropractors in the area. Following his undergraduate school he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA where he participated in multiple clubs and sports including Motion Palpation, Sports Council, baseball and more.


Janelle E. Vallano, CRNP

Janelle is a Board Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner who joined Legacy Medical Centers to offer acute and chronic sports injuries/pain management to patients of all ages. In 2011, Janelle obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from West Virginia University. After graduation, she worked as a Registered Nurse at WVU Medicine, Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV in the Maternal and Infant Care Center for six years. During this time, she provided care to high-risk obstetric mothers and newborns and developed a strong interest in treating patients across the lifespan, which lead her to follow her passion and advance her nursing education.

In May 2017, Janelle graduated from West Virginia University with a Master of Science in Nursing degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. During the Family Nurse Practitioner program, she was awarded the Margaret Perry Scholarship for excellence in academics. Janelle is currently a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. She is also certified in myofascial trigger point dry needling by the Dry Needling Institute, LLC.



Dr. Michael Pezzone

Dr. Michael Pezzone native to Upper St. Clair. During high school, he was a two sport athlete playing baseball and soccer. He then attended Allegheny College in Meadville PA, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. During his time at Allegheny, he was a four year varsity letter winner in baseball, and currently holds the school record for most doubles in a single season. During the summers, he conducted research at University of Pittsburgh’s McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine mainly focusing on constructive remodeling of tissue.

His passion for Chiropractic came about after treatment of a pitching injury during college. After seeking out some of Pittsburgh’s best orthopedic and sports medicine doctors, Dr. Mike felt frustrated because nothing seemed to really help. As a last resort, he sought out the laser therapy that Dr. Burnett had to offer. After just a few laser treatments and chiropractic adjustments, he was able to throw pain free again.


Dr. Jerrell Hardison, D.C.

Dr. Jerrell attended the University of Pittsburgh, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medicine. During his undergraduate career, he practiced as a nationally and state registered paramedic. Over this period, he repeatedly witnessed the inadvertent failure of the healthcare system to appropriately direct and manage chronic pain patients. This led him to seek out further education in a field that was more patient centered, well equipped to help these individuals, and able to provide exactly what was necessary, be it chiropractic care or a referral to the most appropriate provider.

Growing up in a healthcare family Dr. Angelo Minella has always understood the importance of maintaining a wellness lifestyle to prevent injuries.

Dr. Devin Peck, DPT

Dr. Peck grew up in the South Hills while attending Canon McMillan School District. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Kent State University in 2012 and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Duquesne University in 2015. During PT School, Dr. Peck had the opportunity to be mentored by Dr. Antonucci, refining his skill set and treatment style.

Dr. Peck has been practicing in the orthopedic/sports medicine setting for 4 years while primarily working in orthopedic practices. Marshall M. Hutchison

Marshall graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2012 from Duquesne University and started his career within a specialized neurological-trauma and stroke unit at UPMC Mercy hospital for the first 3 years of his professional nursing career. Whenever Marshall decided to go back to school for his master’s degree, he started a new job working for AHN’s Allegheny Valley Hospital’s intensive care unit closer to his home and served their medical and surgical population for 3.5 years until completion of his graduate degree from Duquesne University, again, in 2018.
